Concrete Work Across Greenacres

Greenacres sits between Wellington and Lake Worth Beach, and concrete contractors working here see houses from almost every decade of the last century. The city had 43,990 residents and 17,927 housing units in 2020, up from 1,731 people in 1970. We replace driveways, pour patios and walks, add slabs for sheds and equipment, and repair sections that have cracked or sunk.

A 1920s plat that kept growing

Wikipedia says L. C. Swain acquired about 320 acres and platted the original section in 1923, and the community incorporated as Greenacres City on May 24, 1926. A hurricane that September destroyed the civic building and community hall, and the 1928 Okeechobee hurricane damaged practically every building in town, according to the Lake Worth Herald. The city was dissolved by state law in 1945 and reorganized soon after, and in 1990 about 60 percent of voters dropped the word "City" from the name.

The population climbed steadily after that: 8,780 in 1980, 27,569 in 2000 and 37,573 in 2010. That means Greenacres has a mix of small older lots near the original plat and larger stretches of 1970s, 1980s and 1990s homes further out.

What older driveways here tend to need

Many Greenacres driveways are single-car width with a narrow walk to the door. Owners often want to widen them, add a parking pad, or replace a drive broken by a shade tree. Before we widen anything, we check the front setback and how much green space has to stay, then lay out joints so the old and new sections move together.

On slabs from the 1970s and 1980s, the typical failures are settled panels near the garage, cracks radiating from tree roots and a lip where the drive meets the street. Section replacement often fixes those for less disruption than a full tear-out, as long as the base underneath is sound.

Heavy rain, flat ground

Greenacres sits at about 16 feet above sea level, and most lots are close to flat. With South Florida's summer downpours, a slab that is even slightly back-pitched will hold water against the house or garage door. We set slope on every patio and walk so water runs toward the yard or the street and confirm downspouts discharge away from new concrete.

Greenacres Questions

Can I widen my single-car driveway in Greenacres?

Often, yes. We check the front setback and green-space rules for your lot, confirm any permit needed with the city, and design the widening so it ties cleanly into the existing drive.

Is section replacement enough, or do I need a new driveway?

If the damage is limited to a few panels and the base is sound, section replacement can work. Widespread settlement or root heave usually calls for a full replacement.

Do you work in Greenacres HOAs?

Yes. Share your HOA guidelines and we will match the finish, color and layout they allow.
